An Under Cover Weekend 6: Night One
Forget what you know about cover bands. All those weddings spent dancing with your awkward uncle to a jazz combo covering “Baby Got Back” have given the cover a bad name — We’re here to make it cool again.
Imagine this: the best bands in St. Louis, pulling out all of the stops and performing an entire set as their favorite group. Still not convinced? Check out Undercoverweekend.com to read up on the amazing weekends of the past and/or scroll down to see how unbelievable 2012 is going to be.
VOLCANOES is a distorted dance/noise rock group new in St. Louis. The band, featuring Jon Ryan (bass, drums, keyboard) and Eric Peters (vocals, keyboard, drums), just released their self recorded and produced EP entitled FAULTS// and haven't stopped smashing the scene since.
HMDRM is a four-piece, experimental/indie rock band from Saint Louis. We've been fortunate enough to share the stage with many innovative and gifted musicians (and friends), including: Josiah Wolf (of Why?), Julie Doiron, Samantha Crain, Jookabox, Venice is Sinking, C.J. Boyd, Theodore, Union Tree Review and many more.
In 2009, Mike Craft and Ali Ruby formulated an idea that would become the beginnings of Animal Empty. In 2010, the addition of members Alec Frisch and Aaron Cajilig completed their sound. Their differing experiences in life and music came together to create something genuine and raw. While often taking comparisons to the sounds of Heartless Bastards or that of Cursive, listeners agree that the band holds a genre of their own.
